David Gault has served as Deputy Corporation for Dane County, Wisconsin since 2023. Prior to that he served as Assistant Corporation Counsel since 1992. For several years he has advised County officials on election related matters, including two Presidential recounts. He has represented the County in election related litigation including the 2020 Presidential recount in state and federal court. He has appeared before the Wisconsin Supreme Court on a case involving absentee voting, and is currently involved in litigation regarding the counting of absentee ballots. He also served for 24 years in the US Army as a Judge Advocate, retiring with the rank of Colonel. For the past twelve years he has also served on a volunteer basis as the General Counsel for Delta Chi Fraternity. He is a graduate of Illinois State University and Drake University Law School.
